Dr. Derek Rodrigues passed his University of Oxford examination boards before entering St Mary’s Hospital Medical School.  He received his M.D. degree from the University of London.  He did post graduate work in the UK before completing his internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore.  He completed his Cardiology Fellowship at UCLA.  He received a Clinical Investigator Award from the American Heart Association and presented his research at national meetings.  He joined Eastside Cardiology Associates in 1990.  He has served as Director of Cardiology Services at Evergreen Hospital.  He received supspecialist training in the management of cardiac arrhythmias and is Board Certified in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology.  He is a member of the Heart Rhythm Society.  He started the Electrophysiology program at Overlake Hospital in 1997, which included the ability to diagnose and curatively treat complex cardiac arrhythmias.  In 2003, this also included the catheter ablation of Atrial Fibrillation.  He has been involved in research into managment of arrhythmias and heart failure with implantable defibrillators and pacemakers.  For more information on how the heart works, and catheter ablation, follow this link: http://atrialfibrillationcatheterablation.com/

When not working, he enjoys time with his physician wife and their two boys.  They enjoy everything this beautiful part of the world has to offer, but especially hiking, backpacking, and skiing every chance they get!
