Many coronary arterial blockages can be effectively treated with a balloon tipped catheter inserted via the artery in the groin.  Often a metal scaffold or stent is left behind to prop the artery open.  This approach is very effective at relieving chest discomfort in both chronic stable and acute unstable angina syndromes.  It is known to prolong survival in unstable angina and acute myocardial infarction.  Our cardiologist perform this procedure at both Overlake and Evergreen Hospitals.  Prompt access to PCI forms the cornerstone of the nationally recognized excellent outcomes in acute heart attack at Evergreen Hospital.   Drs.
